If you're one of those who missed the screening of the Japanese films featured in this year's Eiga Sai over at Shangri-La Plaza Mall (EDSA) in celebration of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Month last July, then fret not, because there will be a rerun of the said festival this week from August 18-21 over at the UP Film Institute. All films will be shown with english subtitles. Admission is free.

ReplyDeleteDownloaded the Eiga Sai lineup, saw a few familiar names even though I've only watched a handful of J-films. *this Jdrama watcher is proud* So was there any movie that you liked in particular? =D
Ach, I only saw a Country Doctor and Tokyo Tower: Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad because I caught a cold last Thursday and have been trapped in a haze all through the weekend after taking decongestants. Was hoping to catch the movie Glasses but like you, my schedule didn't permit it.
ReplyDeleteLet's see... Country Doctor was freaky and surreal but I think it matched the tone of Kafka's short story. Tokyo Tower: Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad is definitely something you shouldn't watch if you're in the mood for light entertainment. It's sad and dreary, it's more or less a tribute of a grateful son to his hardworking mother who lost her battle to a terminal disease. Saw Sore demo boku wa yatte nai a year or two ago and I thought it was an interesting movie. Let's just say I like shows that give some insight into the legal system of other countries. :)
